Acne Scars: Scar Treatment Options

by Julie Greenmayer

Did you know that adequate and timely acne treatment can help prevent acne scars? Just another reason to take care of your acne problems as soon as possible. However, if your cleansing, toning and moisturizing routine hasn't been enough to control your acne, then your next option will probably involve scar removal options.

Scar removal procedures have been used for centuries. Thankfully enough, scar removal has become more refined throughout history. Here's a look at some of the different options you have when trying to remove acne scars

Scar Removal Treatments

Surgery is one of the most common forms of scar removal. Both punch excision and subcision are usually used to treat acne scars. The first option is used mostly on ice pick scars, while the second is most effective with rolling scars.

Punch excision involves a cookie cutter type instrument that removes scar tissue. After having removed the damaged tissue, the edges of the excised skin are sutured together. If the amount of skin removed is too extensive, grafted skin will be used to close the wound.

Subcision is another popular form of surgical intervention. It involves the use of a small scalpel or pair of surgical scissors to release the epidermis from underlying scar tissue. The space between these two layers will be filled with dermal fillers or by blood that will naturally fill in the empty space.

There are also less invasive forms of scar treatments. Some of the most common types of superficial treatments include chemical peels, dermabrasion, microdermabrasion and scar creams. Another very popular form of treatment is laser therapy.

Chemical peels and dermabrasion work by removing the skin and promoting the growth of new, healthy cells. When undergoing chemical peels you'll notice that they use different chemicals to burn off the skin. The depth of these peels will depend on the acids that are being used.

Dermabrasion uses an abrasive wand to remove the uppermost layer of the skinDermabrasion, on the other hand, uses an abrasive wand to remove the uppermost layer of the skin. Just like with chemical peels, this type of treatment anesthesia and a certain period of recovery. Both can also be used to remove age spots and wrinkles.

The most gentle type of acne scar treatment is microdermabrasion and scar creams. Microdermabrasion does not require anesthesia so it can be performed in a day spa or salon.

for any scar cream to consider itself effective, it should contain ingredients that help dissolve scar tissue. The ingredients that you should look for are snail serum and rose hip seed oil. Both ingredients gently remove damaged skin and help replace it with healthy skin.

If you have dry skin or sensitive skin then scar creams are probably your best option. Using any other type of option may result to be too harsh for your skin.

If you are trying to avoid acne scars, then first clear acne. Nevertheless, if you already suffer from acne scars, BIOSKINCARE is a great scar cream capable of helping remove facial acne scars as well as other types of scars. This natural skin care product contains snail serum which gently helps treat scar tissue.
